University of Michigan Medical Student Research Training Program in Kidney Disease; Summer of 2012 Application

The University of Michigan O’Brien Kidney Center Medical Student Training Program in Kidney Disease (O’Brien-MSTP-KD) is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. This program allows medical students to conduct research under the direction of an established scientist in the areas of basic, systems biological, translational or clinical research in kidney disease.

This program will be an 8-week research experience and will begin June 7 and run through August 3, 2012. Selected students will begin the program by participating in the state-of-the-art 4 day symposium entitled, Systems Biology of Kidney Disease, from June 7-10. This international conference is sponsored in part by the UM O’Brien Kidney Center. Registration for the program will be covered (a value of $925) for the selected students, in addition to a weekly stipend of $415 for the eight week program ($3,323 per student) for a total award of $4,248. The selected students must also participate in the UM Summer Biomedical Research Program Research Symposium on November 1, 2012.
